St John Ambulance Cymru is a trusted and leading training provider in Wales. In the UK, St John Ambulance is one of the voluntary aid societies (VAS) who are recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as standard setters for first aid training in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. We don't require external accreditation through an awarding organisation.

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, particularly vulnerable individuals who may need assistance with moving and handling. Proper training helps reduce the risk of injury to both the individual being moved and the person providing support. This course gives delegates the knowledge and confidence to carry out moving and handling tasks safely.

The scheme was originally developed in 2003 by professionals within NHS trusts in Wales. It was designed to ensure consistent standards for manual handling tasks across Wales and to promote good health and safety practice in the workplace.
