When it comes to a manual handling people course, St John Ambulance Cymru is the leading training provider in Wales. In the UK, St John Ambulance is one of the voluntary aid societies (VAS) who are recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as standard setters for first aid training in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. We don't require external accreditation through an Awarding Organisation.

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and this is especially true of vulnerable people such as those with a musculoskeletal injury, the elderly or those with a disability, who need help to be moved. Similarly, it is very important that the person doing the moving and handling do so safely in order to reduce the risks of injury involved in moving people. This is why it is very important that care workers and those working in care homes understand moving and handling risk and have the confidence to do such tasks safely and effectively. The learning outcome from this training will enable you to do this safely and successfully.

The scheme was originally developed in 2003 by professionals within NHS trusts in Wales. It was designed to ensure that standards remain consistent standard across Wales for manual handling tasks. the scheme also promotes good H&S practice in the workplace. The safe handling of people can result in injuries and musculoskeletal disorders such as knee and back pain. The benefit of this scheme is that that is enables a standard in manual handling operation across Wales. This a great reason to choose one of our manual handling courses.
