First Aid for Infants & Children

First aid is the initial assistance or treatment given to a person who is injured or taken ill. The person who provides this help is a first aider.

We want there to be first aiders on hand across Wales whenever and wherever an incident occurs, but we know that it’s not always the case that someone is nearby. There are some differences to the way we carry out certain first aid for infants or children.

We’ve put together these simple first aid for infants guides to show you how to treat some common incidents where children and infants require first aid. If the subject you’re looking for isn’t listed here, or you’re looking for adult first aid, visit out our main advice page.

Do you need a professional first aid for infants qualification? We teach the full 2-day Paediatric First Aid course, which is a necessary qualification if you plan on looking after children or babies in a professional environment.
