The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital is the oldest charitable provider of expert eye care in the Holy Land, treating patients regardless of ethnicity, religion or the ability to pay.

Our Eye Hospital Fundraising Committee's primary objective is to fundraise for the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group. The Committee meets at least six times per year and runs events and fundraising initiatives to raise funds, which we pass on

The Hospitallers' Club of Wales

Founded in 1965, the Hospitallers' Club of Wales supports the development of the Eye Hospital.

The Hospitallers' Committee for Wales

The Hospitallers' Committee Wales has an all-Wales membership that supports the development of the Eye Hospital Group (EHG) in four ways:

• Raising funds within Wales to enable its hospitals and clinics to function and deliver care

• Promoting links between the professional eye care community in Wales and EHG colleagues

• Supporting special UK-wide appeals to buy modern diagnostic equipment for the EHG

• Raising awareness of the plight and eye care needs of those living in a troubled region of the world. 

The Hospitaller of the Priory for Wales (currently Stephen Jones) is the volunteer who chairs this small committee, comprising eye care professionals and supporters of the work of the EHG.

The Committee meets at least six times per year, and arranges events and fundraising initiatives, which contribute directly to funding the work of the EHG.

The Patient Relief Fund

Through our Patient Relief Fund, we subsidise care for refugees, marginalised individuals, and those unable to afford treatment, ensuring that no one is turned away because of financial hardship. Demand continues to grow, and your donations directly fund care for those most in need.

• £50 could go towards a child vision screening key, helping detect eye conditions early and prevent avoidable blindness.
• £250 could support the scheduling of more major operations, giving patients the sight-saving surgery they need. 
• £500 could contribute towards the purchase of an ophthalmoscope for one of our hospitals, enabling doctors to detect and treat serious eye conditions. 

Zakat and Sadaqah Jariyah

Donations towards the Eye Hospital Group are appropriate for Zakat and Sadaqah Jariyah.

Zakat is an obligatory, annual almsgiving that constitutes one of the Five Pillars of Islam, whereas Sadaqah Jariyah is voluntary, ongoing charity.

During Holy Ramadan and beyond, your Zakat or Sadaqah Jariyah can bring light to lives and restore sight to those most in need across Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

How we use your donation

Your donation supports our patients, many of whom live in some of the most marginalised and conflict-affected areas of the Holy Land. In the occupied Palestinian territories, access to essential eye care is a daily challenge. Medical supplies are limited, and thousands suffer needlessly from preventable blindness.
