The St John Ambulance Cymru mental health first aid live virtual course is a leading MHFA course in Wales. it's ideal if you want to take the course in the comfort of your own home or workplace. In the UK, St John Ambulance is one of the voluntary aid societies (VAS) who are recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as standard setters for first aid training in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. This course is also licensed by Mental Health First Aid Wales. They directly train, license and support instructors who deliver who deliver MHFA training.

Just like physical first aid, mental health skills can fade over time. This is especially true if you do not get the chance to regularly practice applying the mental health first aid skills you learned during your initial mental health first aid training. Refresher training every three years allows you to remain a qualified mental health first aider and confident in providing the support your colleagues need in tough moments.

You will need access to a stable internet connection and the Zoom website or app. Attendees should use a laptop to join this training as opposed to a mobile phone or tablet. Every delegate should have their own laptop, and one laptop should not be shared between multiple people. We ask that you join 15 minutes early so that we can resolve any connectivity issues and the training can start on time.

Please note that delegates will need to have completed a 2-Day Mental Health First Aid course before you can attend a refresher course. This is because they already need to have a knowledge of mental health and how a mental health first aider performs their roles before they refresh their skills. You can become a qualified mental health first aider with our 2-day mental health first aid course. We also offer this course part-online for maximum flexibility.

Every business and organisation should be committed to supporting the wellbeing of its workforce. Your designated mental health first aiders, such as line managers and staff reps, should be confident in talking about mental health with their colleagues. Being able to discuss mental health could help ease concerns before they escalate. Keeping them up to date is invaluable. Your original qualification is also only valid for 3 years, so after this time you will need to take a fresher course to extend the validity by a further 3 years.

Our dedicated Commercial Training team is standing by and ready to answer any questions you may have. Give them a call on 0345 678 5646. You can also email on training@sjacymru.org.uk and start your training journey with St John Ambulance Cymru today.
