We’re always looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team. Our roles are flexible in terms of time and are available in a number of locations across Wales. Whether you have family commitments, work full-time, are retired or currently unemployed, we've got a role for you and just ask that you help when you can. From first aid to finance our volunteers can take an active role in many areas of our work so there really is something for everyone.
Enhance your CV
Volunteering can be a great way to enhance your CV and show employers what you can do and the commitment you can make. You could volunteer in a role which will help your career, such as communications or finance. Plus as Wales’ leading first aid charity, we’re a great organisation to get involved with if you want to pursue a career in health or social care.
Learn new skills
You don’t need to have any previous first aid or volunteering experience to volunteer with us. You’ll learn the skills you need for the role you choose. Wether that’s being a youth leader or first aider we'll provide all the training you need to get going and a programme of contours learning for the time you're with us.
Make a positive impact on your local community
Every day our volunteers help keep communities across Wales safe. They could be providing first aid at an event, responding to an emergency call or be helping behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.
Meet new people and make new friends
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people. Whether you join one of our local divisions as a first aider, or want to sit on our board of trustees there's lots of opportunities to meet like minded people, make friends, connections and find other to learn from.

Senior paramedic volunteer
I joined St John Ambulance Cymru nearly 20 years ago with the childhood dream of wanting to become a doctor.
My experience has taught me how to help someone who is unresponsive as well as how to give basic first aid.
First aid trainer, first responder and lead volunteer
St John Ambulance Cymru has helped me to support my community, help others and develop my first aid skills.
First aid and fundraising volunteer
I really enjoy regularly going out on duties across Cardiff and the Vale and helping at my division each week.
Over the past six years, I've learned lots of new skills and got to know more people in our community.
