New vehicles keep St John Ambulance Cymru wheels turning

We've welcomed three new vehicles to our fleet which are helping us continue our vital services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The vehicles, on loan from Volvo until May, are stationed across Wales and are being used to support the transportation of equipment as well as volunteers and staff delivering care at vaccination centres.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has seen us step up and respond to one of the most challenging situations we’ve faced in our 103-year history. The support we’ve had from individuals and businesses like Volvo has been instrumental in helping ensure we can keep our wheels turning.

We’re really thankful to them for thinking of us and loaning us three of their vehicles, which are already helping us support people when they need us most.

The collective efforts of our St John people, partner organisations, and now Volvo, helps us ensure we’re able to continue providing safe and effective services and care across Wales.”

St John Ambulance Cymru, Head of Ambulance Services, James Shaughnessy

Our volunteers have already given over 1,600 hours of support to the ongoing vaccination programme with many more thousands of hours given supporting Wales’ field hospitals and the NHS across the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our staff and volunteers are the lifeblood of our charity and we couldn’t have done what we have without them.

Our mission is to enhance the health and wellbeing of communities in Wales, and we’ll continue supporting and being there for people wherever and whenever we’re needed."
