Sports First Aid Course

About our Sports First Aid course

Injuries such as sprains, fractures, cuts and grazes are common in sporting activities. That’s why we created the Sports First Aid course, which teaches delegates basic first aid skills and how to treat these injuries.

The course covers first aid response to a variety of injuries and is suitable for anyone involved in any sport.

sports first aid course certificate

Certification

On successful completion of this training, delegates will receive a sports first aid certificate. This certification is valid for three years. After this, you will need to take the course again.

When it comes to sports first aid, St John Ambulance Cymru is one of the leading training providers in Wales. In the UK, St John Ambulance is one of the voluntary aid societies (VAS) who are recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as standard setters for first aid training in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. As such, we do not require external accreditation through an awarding organisation. In addition, income generated from our courses helps fund the vital community work we deliver across Wales.

Our St John Ambulance Cymru Sports First Aid course will take one day to complete. It is more in-depth than courses taught by other providers. This will enable you to have a thorough understanding of sports first aid and how to treat a sports related injury that you might come across.

You will be prepared to deal with a sports injury and offer basic life support after completing the Sports First Aid course. However, this course does not certify you as a qualified first aider. You would need to complete the 3-day First Aid at Work course to be a qualified first aider.

Yes, we would absolutely encourage you to join. Our Sports First Aid course is suitable for everyone involved in any sporting environment or sports club, including football and rugby. Many injuries received as a result of playing sport will be quite similar, and our Sports First Aid course will teach you how to provide effective response to such injuries. You will also learn what goes into a football or rugby first aid kit.

We offer our Sports First Aid course at our training centres located across Wales. For groups of six or more, we can come to your place of work to deliver the training. For more information, contact our training team at [email protected] or call 0300 201 1999.
