We are one of the leading training providers in Wales for the IOSH Working Safely course. In the UK, St John Ambulance is one of the voluntary aid societies (VAS) who are recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as standard setters for first aid training in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. We don't require external accreditation through an awarding organisation.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the largest health and safety membership organisation in the world. It offers a range of training courses, including IOSH Working Safely. This is an internationally recognised course suitable for employees across all industries, designed to provide essential health and safety knowledge for the workplace.

The IOSH Working Safely course teaches delegates practical skills to identify common hazards and risks, recognise potential dangers, and improve overall workplace safety performance. It also provides valuable insight into managing occupational health and carrying out effective risk assessments, helping to build confidence in maintaining a safe working environment.

No, you do not need to pay for IOSH membership to complete this course. Upon successful completion of our St John Ambulance Cymru IOSH Working Safely course, you will receive an IOSH Working Safely certificate at no extra cost.

An IOSH certificate does not expire. However, to avoid skills fade and to ensure that your health and safety knowledge remains up to date, we recommend successful delegates consider retaking the course every 3 years.

The most suitable IOSH course for you will depend on your specific circumstances. If you only need a basic understanding of health and safety in the workplace and are not in a managerial position, IOSH Working Safely is likely to be the most suitable option. Managers and supervisors should instead consider our IOSH Managing Safely course.

We offer the IOSH Working Safely at our training centres across Wales. For groups of six or more, we can come to you to deliver the training.
