Take on the 10YFAN Challenge and Support St John Ambulance Cymru’s Lifesaving Mission!
10YFAN is as simple - and as devilish - as it sounds. With Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales, it remains a challenge and an achievement just to reach the top. 10YFAN has taken this challenge to… well, ten!
This unique challenge takes place on Saturday 9th May 2026. We have a limited number of free charity places available, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure your spot, we simply ask that you pledge to raise a minimum of £300 in sponsorship to support our work.
In return, you'll receive fundraising support from our friendly team! If you’d like to apply for one of our free charity places, please get in touch today.
All charity places for the 10YFAN Challenge on Saturday 9th May 2026 have now been allocated.
If you’d still like to take part in support of St John Ambulance Cymru, we encourage you to get in touch to add your name to our waiting list or to register your interest for 2027. Places do occasionally become available if someone is unable to take part, and we’ll contact you should a space become available.
About the challenge
Pen Y Fan stands at 2,907 ft, and Everest is 29,029 ft. So, if you complete 10YFAN, it’s the equivalent of climbing Everest… tenuous, perhaps, but it illustrates the enormity of completing all ten climbs. You won’t need oxygen, snow boots, or a tent - just the determination to complete as many climbs as you can within 24 hours.
10YFAN is for everyone. Whether you complete one climb or ten, it’s an incredible achievement. We will support and encourage you every step of the way and do our best to make your 10YFAN experience truly unforgettable.
What we can promise is a unique experience. The challenge starts in the early evening and continues through the night for a 24-hour period. You’ll see a side of Pen Y Fan that many don’t, including - if the weather is kind - an uninterrupted view of the night sky and the breaking dawn.
How your money helps
First aid is essential for saving lives and the work we do plays a crucial role in keeping communities in Wales safe. St John Ambulance Cymru plays a vital role in the community, offering first aid training to individuals and organisations, providing medical support at events and responding to emergencies. Your support means we can continue to make a difference through first aid in Wales.
