Following Wales’ sensational match against Tonga on Saturday, we've has once again teamed up with the Welsh Rugby Union to deliver first aid training to school children.

Pupils from Bryn Primary School, Pontllanfraith, visited the WRU’s Centre of Excellence on Tuesday 20th November, where they took part in a first aid session delivered by St John Cymru community trainer Dave Ball.

Each pupil learned lifesaving first aid skills including; how to manage an incident, resuscitation (CPR), treating an unresponsive casualty, bleeding and choking.

The school children were then invited to watch the Wales players train ahead of Saturday’s match against South Africa.

"Now in its fifth year, we’re proud to have been working with the Welsh Rugby Union to deliver first aid training to young people from communities across Wales.

Young people are the lifesavers of the future and by learning first aid skills early on, an individual gains skills for life.

Learning first aid can not only benefit the person undertaking the training, as they will develop their confidence and communication skills, but their community too, whilst also developing their confidence and communication skills.

On behalf of St John Cymru we wish the Wales team good luck for their final game against South Africa this weekend."

St John Cymru Director of Training, Jon Phillips,

As the nation’s leading first aid charity, our volunteers will be on duty at the Principality Stadium on Saturday, just as they have been throughout the Autumn Internationals, should supporters need emergency help.

We believes first aid should be available for everyone, whenever and wherever they need it with our ultimate goal to achieve a first aider in every home in Wales.

This vital partnership with the WRU helps to make that a reality.
